Diana Slip Lingerie

1920 – 1940

This French lingerie company from around 1930 was owned by Léon Vidal. It is mentioned that Yva Richard and Leon Vidal were two rival companies, I am not sure about this since somewhere (but I did not store the page I found it) I read: Diana Slip seemed to have been started by Yva Richard who sold his company to Diana Slip in 1920 (since he wanted to focus on his photography more).

The company however was much more then just a lingerie company. They made and sold fetish wear, erotic books, erotic and fetish photography and condoms. Also they established the Librarie de la Lune, most likely a pornographic reading room. Besides all this they produced illustrated catalogs and magazines such as Lingerie Libertines and the Parish Magazine.

Photographers who produced for this company were Brassaï, Jean Moral and Roger Schall, when you take a closer look to some of the photos from the Ostra Studio you can discover some very recognizable lingerie as well so it is my guess that Jacques and Charles Biederer produced photos as well. Recently I also discovered some photos taken by Olga Spolarics for Manassé Studio.

I have tried to sort the photos and connect them to the proper photograph, however I noticed many lingerie photos have been attributed to Jean Moral and Roger Schall so take into consideration that I was unable to say for sure if a certain photo belonged to a specific photographer.

As much as possible I tried to connect the photos to the photographer who shot them, which has room for errors. Also from time to time this page gets updated when I find new photos to add. For some photographers I managed to create a separate page:

Brassaï
Jean Moral
Roger Schall
Ostra Studio
Olga Spolarics (have to sort these out)
